Camp above upper Palisade Lake, 1977. This was the location of a memorable event in the High Sierra. As we were descending from Mather Pass, the weather started to look like rain. When we reached this spot, we thought we should set up the tent to escape the weather. Just as the tent was set up, it started to hail heavily with lots of thunder and lightning. The hail made a tremendous racket as it hit the tent. It was over in a matter of minutes, but the ground was white with hail. What a fantastic experience! This photo shows our equipment hanging on a line to dry the next day.
